Newport: Self-Publishing with Dale Ivan Smith
September 17 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm
Willamette Writers Coast Chapter Presents Self-Publishing Program: How to Publish Yourself
Author and retired librarian Dale Ivan Smith knows from firsthand experience that navigating the brave new world of self-publishing presents a daunting challenge for even the most accomplished writers. Given his expertise in this arena, the Willamette Writers (WW) Coast Chapter is honored to host him as its inaugural speaker for its 2022/2023 program year. He will share his in-person presentation, How to Publish Yourself: the 2022 Edition, on Saturday, September 17 from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Newport Public Library.
About Dale Ivan Smith
A life-long resident of the Pacific Northwest, Smith credits his mother with starting him down the writing path. As a five-year-old, he glimpsed the cover of a sci-fi novel she was reading and instantly became a convert, writing his own fiction throughout childhood and beyond. His literary path led him to work as a librarian for 32 years for the Multnomah County Library system in Portland, Oregon. A prolific author as well, he has published several science fiction books, including the Empowered and the Agents of Sorcery Series. He retired to write full-time in 2019 and is currently at work on his first mystery series, The Meg Booker Librarian Mysteries, set in the 1980s.
About your chapter meetings
Willamette Writers meetings are open to all writers, 18 and up. Young writers are encouraged to join our Young Willamette Writers meetings. Guests are welcome to make a donation to help support the cost of the meeting (we believe in paying our speakers for their time and skills). This meeting is run by volunteers. We look forward to seeing you there!
MASKING: Willamette Writers continues to require mask-wearing at our in-person, indoor meetings. If you are unable to mask, we invite you to join us at one of our online Chapter Meetings. Here is a link to our policies.
