Southern YWW: A Generative Blackout Poetry Workshop with Jennifer Rood

Come ready to have fun and learn about how to create blackout poetry in this hands-on workshop! Not only will you come away with a finished piece of found poetry, but you will also add a valuable tool to your writing toolbox for getting past writer’s block and for reconnecting with your innate creativity. This workshop is for everyone!

This meeting will be held on Jan. 14th, in person at the Josephine Community Library, Grants Pass branch, located at 200 NE C St in Grants Pass. We will be offering virtual attendance through ZOOM for those unable to attend in person. Meet and greet time from 10-10:15 am, followed by our workshop from 10:15-11:15 am, and ending with Q & A time & book signing time from 11:15-11:30 am. Young writers are encouraged to join our Young Willamette Writers meetings. Sign Up! Any high school or middle-grade writers are welcome to join us. About Jennifer Rood

Jennifer Rood has been writing poems and stories since she could hold a pencil, and is a self-described poetry enthusiast. A published poet and creative non-fiction writer, she has dozens of published poems in various journals and anthologies, has been a featured reader at poetry events across the state, is a past President of the Oregon Poetry Association, and recently won first place for her poem “Breaking” in OPA’s Fall 2022 Contest. She has taught Creative Writing as an adjunct professor at Southern Oregon University and currently teaches high school English and art.

About your chapter meetings

Willamette Writers meetings are open to all writers, 18 and up. Guests are welcome to make a donation to help support the cost of the meeting (we believe in paying our speakers for their time and skills). This meeting is run by volunteers. We look forward to seeing you there!

We had to change our meeting access because of a few inappropriate guests, but we want to continue to keep our meetings open to the public.
