Hybrid Vancouver: Memoir – A Different Approach with Alan Rose
March 20 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Willamette Writers Vancouver presents
Memoir: A Different Approach with Alan Rose
People often find writing a memoir to be daunting—Where to begin? How to tell my story? What is my story? This one-hour interactive workshop offers an alternative to the memoir as a chronological narrative, presenting an approach that identifies and distills significant moments that helped define and shape one’s life.
Participants will be guided through a reflective writing exercise to help them through this “distillation” process: remembering a particular moment, then exploring and re-living it to realize its emotional resonance, lasting impact, and meaning for one’s life. People are invited to bring a photo or a memento (or a memory) that represents a significant moment they wish to focus on for the writing exercise. During the last ten minutes, they will have the opportunity to share their experience with their table group.
