September 10 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Hillsboro Chapter Header

We’re Happy to be Back!

We’re glad to be back and can’t wait to see you! This month we’re discussing points of view in stories. The meeting will be held at the Brookwood Library in Hillsboro in the upstairs boardroom on Tuesday, September 10th from 6:30 – 7:45, with doors opening at 6:00 so we can network and talk about what we’ve done over the summer. It will also be held on Zoom. Susan Matthews will discuss how the POV authors write in affects what readers see and hear of your story, and how switching POVs in a story can be done smoothly and without confusing your readers.

About Susan Matthews

Susan Matthews Author Photo

Susan Matthews has been lucky enough to see the publication of the nine-novel arc of her science fiction saga, though it’s taken going on thirty years—and four publishing houses—to make it happen.

What does she do now? A historical romantic trilogy set in the “wild high places” of the Pamir mountains, is what, about Jefferji Tamisen–a dancer devotee of Sri Krsna–and his adventures with a refugee Circassian warlord, a “Prussian Russian” antagonist, and an elderly Chinese gentleman who has completely forgotten that he’s a dragon. You can probably guess that it doesn’t take itself altogether seriously.

Her POV of choice for her novels is third-person limited, though many of her short stories are in the first person, present tense. She and her wife live in Seattle in an old house along with between two and three Pomeranians–depending on year it is.
