Hybrid Eugene: Writing and Rewriting with Dante Zúñiga-West

March 28 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Willamette Writers Eugene Presents

Writing and Rewriting with Dante Zúñiga-West

Good writing is rewriting. While it’s romantic to think the first draft of a writer’s work can be a perfect rendition, purely sourced from a fresh imaginative state, this simply isn’t the case. Good writing is rewriting because effective storytelling requires acute attention to detail. In this talk, we’ll explore simple methods and tools of the trade that help a writer hone and revise newly written work. We’ll unravel elements of wordplay, style, and economy of language as we pursue the craft of revision.

About Dante Zúñiga-West

Dante Zúñiga-West is a storyteller who lives in the coastal mountain range of Oregon. He is the author of Rumble Young Man Rumble (2014, Zharmae Press), founder of the Oregon-based writing collective known as The Stonecutters Union, and serves as Head of School at the Wellsprings Friends School. His writing is frequently published in alternative newspapers, lifestyle magazines, and adventure journals. He holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Cal Arts and a BA in Creative Writing from The Evergreen State College.
