Join Jan Bono with Chicken Soup for Everyone! 
Writing for a popular anthology like Chicken Soup for the Soul is a great way to gather some publishing credits. Chicken Soup stories are a “known brand.” Being one of their authors carries some clout with agents, publishers, and readers. Jan will happily share her “tips and tricks” and the lessons she’s learned along the way to becoming one of their top five contributors, worldwide. “Writing short anecdotal pieces is terrific all by itself, but it’s also a great way to learn to write realistic and colorful scenes for a longer work. The competition is pretty steep,” Jan admits, “but there are plenty of things you can do to move your submissions to the front of the line.”
Please have writing tools with you, as this will be a hands-on, interactive workshop for those who wish to fully participate!

About Jan Bono
JAN BONO began writing a humorous personal experience bi-weekly newspaper column while she was finishing up her 30-year teaching career. She won 11 Washington Newspaper Publisher Awards in 10 years, and was strongly encouraged to “get those stories into books.” She now has 16 books to her credit, including 7 collections of themed short stories, 3 poetry chapbooks, and most recently, a 6-book cozy mystery series set where she lives, on the SW Washington coast. Along the way, Jan discovered writing for Chicken Soup for the Soul—a natural outlet for her short humor and touching memories. She’s now been published in that series over 50 times, placing her in their top 5 contributors, worldwide!

Willamette Writers meetings are open to all writers, 18 and up. Young writers are encouraged to join our Young Willamette Writers meetings.
