Mary Bauer will be signing books at booth 64 at the Portland Book Festival on November 9th. Mary has been an educator for forty-three years. In 2000, she co-founded Ridgeline Montessori Public Charter School. She has been a long-standing advocate for safer products and practices in schools, serving on her local district’s environmental quality committees. Those policies contributed to Oregon’s 2009 Integrated Pest Management in Schools legislation. In 2018, she published Mercury, Miko and Me. “Bauer is a highly engaging storyteller, which makes her memoir an enjoyable read…she presents her argument powerfully: How could putting the second most dangerous element on earth into our teeth be beneficial?”-Kirkus Review
Mercury, Miko, and Me is an intimate account of the author’s journey to understand and reverse learning and behavioral challenges in her daughter and symptoms of lupus, heart disease, and chronic fatigue in herself by removing her “silver” mercury fillings and pursuing holistic strategies that restored them both to health.
