FiLMLaB is honored to announce our finalist judges for the 2013 Script-to-Screen Contest:
Erik Bork is best known for his Emmy and Golden Globe-winning work as a writer-producer on the HBO miniseries Band of Brothers and From the Earth to the Moon. He has sold pitches, written pilots and screenplays on assignment for Universal Pictures, HBO, TNT and Playtone, and been employed as a writer by most of the major studios and networks. Erik was a guest faculty member at the 2011 Willamette Writers Conference and a featured speaker at the 2009 and 2010 Screenwriting Expo. He was rated “Cream of the Crop” in Creative Screenwriting’s June 2010 “The Best Script Analysts and Consultants.” He blogs about writing and offers consulting through his website at www.FlyingWrestler.com.
Stacy Chattaway is the Executive Director of Development overseeing the creative development and acquisitions effort at LAIKA Entertainment (ParaNorman, Coraline). She began her career at Fox 2000 Pictures assisting in the development and production of both live-action and animated films including The Devil Wears Prada, Marley and Me, Alvin and the Chipmunks and The Family Stone. She then worked at the literary agency David Higham Associates in London, helping to represent authors, screenwriters and directors, before moving to Portland based LAIKA. Their next animated feature, The Boxtrolls, will premiere in theaters on October 17, 2014.
Zach Cox is a Literary Manager working in both feature films and television. He has been at Circle of Confusion (Walking Dead, forthcoming The Playroom with John Hawkes) after moving to Los Angeles six and a half years ago and spent his entire post collegiate career at one company, a rarity in Hollywood. Starting as an intern on the production side he was promoted to assist to five literary managers, working his way up to executive assistant for David Engel (partner), and literary manager. Zach was sorry to miss last year’s conference because of a change in his production schedule, and welcomed the opportunity to be a part of Script-to-Screen.
Mary Cybriwsky is a Manager/Producer at Scooty Woop Entertainment. Originally from Philadelphia, PA, and with a film production degree from Syracuse University, Mary began her career at Mosaic Media Group / Atlas Entertainment, where she worked for several years as an executive learning all aspects of the industry under the prolific producer Charles Roven (The Dark Knight, Get Smart, The International). In 2009, she partnered with Frankie Lindquist and opened Scooty Woop Entertainment, a production and literary management company representing up and coming writers and directors. She signed a local writer after attending the 2011 conference and we look forward to seeing her again this August.
Luke Ryan is the Executive Vice President at Disruption Entertainment. A former executive at MGM, he followed CEO Mary Parent to Disruption after the collapse of MGM and has a first-look deal at Paramount Pictures. Their upcoming roster includes Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim (2013), Darren Aronofsky’s Noah (2014), The Spongebob Squarepants Seaquel (2014) and Godzilla (2015). Luke is a regular contributor to the conference and was present for the debut presentation of last year’s Script-to-Screen winner, Alis Volat Propriis. He returns this August as a consultant and faculty presenter.
