Mary’s novel, Otters In Space, is a science-fiction adventure story set in a far future when humans have left the Earth and dogs rule. The hero is an oppressed tabby-cat who dreams of a better place, where cats can run their own lives. Her search for such a cat paradise ends up taking her all the way to the mysterious otter space station and beyond. Otters In Space is available both as a paperback from Amazon and as an e-book from most vendors. For more information, check out my website at www.marylowd.com.

How to vote

The Ursa Major Awards are the highest honor in anthropomorphic literature, a genre centered on talking (or otherwise anthropomorphic) animals. The Ursa Majors are a people’s choice award.

Anyone can vote by going to the Ursa Major website, submitting an email address, and then logging in with an emailed “key.” Once logged in, the website requires some minimal identifying information to ensure that no one votes more than once. The website is www.ursamajorawards.org.

Mary E. Lowd short story also on the ballot

In addition to Otters In Space being up for Best Novel in the Ursa Majors, Mary’s short story “Gerty and the Doesn’t-Smell-Like-a-Melon” is also on the ballot, under Best Short Fiction. You can read that story at Golden Visions Magazine.
