Barb Lachenbruch’s essay, “The Physics of Connection and Solitude,” was published in High Country News online and will be in the September print edition.
“There is no law of physics to explain the transfer of emotions, no equation to describe the difference between what I send and what my father receives. I need that equation because that difference, I fear, is increasing.”
Barb followed in her father’s footsteps as a scientist, but this is her first creative publication. Her essay won a Kay Snow Award for non-fiction.
