Salem: Elevator Pitches with Nancy Ballard

April 20 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Salem Chapter Header

Have you ever had an opportunity to introduce yourself or your book to someone unexpectedly? Did you stumble to come up with something? That’s what an elevator pitch is for. Join Nancy Ballard at the Salem Public Library, Anderson B, on April 20th from 11AM-12PM (doors open at 11AM, in-person only) as we explore elevator pitches.

What is an elevator pitch? It is a simple, concise introduction designed to present on those occasions when you only have a minute to make an impression, proverbially between stops on an elevator. Writers often think of it in terms of a book, but it can also be used to introduce yourself, a project, a business, or an organization. It is not the kind of pitch you present to an agent to try to sell a book although it might be the beginning of one.

Come to the workshop with an idea of what you want to pitch and writing materials. We will break up into small groups to draft our pitches and help each other fine-tune them. You will go home with a useful introduction and the knowledge of how to craft others for different purposes.
