Willamette Writers Screenwriter’s Happy Hour: Meet Victoria Rau

This month, we’re joined by professor, screenwriter and comic book writer Victoria Rau.  

About Victoria Rau

Born and raised in San Diego, Victoria explored Medieval history at Durham University in England, studied screenwriting at Northwestern University in Chicago, and ended up writing scripts and comic books on a farm in Portland, Oregon with her family, Highland cows, and several emus.  

Though Victoria was once on track to be a history professor, she ultimately discovered the voices and themes she wanted to explore would not be found in academia, but in narrative fiction. Since then, she has concentrated on screenwriting and comic book writing, splitting her time between Portland and Los Angeles while earning accolades in the Austin Film Festival, Tracking Board, Nicholl Fellowship, and as a two-time finalist in the Warner Bros. Writers Workshop.  

Her next comic books series will be published this year, while her second series sold out its initial print run, and her first series is currently in development as a feature film.
