Mystery Plot Development with PJ Peterson
Do you ever wonder how mystery authors skillfully toss in red herrings, false leads, and intertwining plotlines, leading readers on a twisty ride as they try to solve the whodunit? Join mystery author PJ Peterson and Vancouver Willamette Writers Tuesday, February 21, at 6 PM at the Cascade Park Library in Vancouver and online, for a discussion on plot development, particularly as it relates to writing mysteries. Learn how to keep your readers turning the pages and guessing, without giving away the grand finale!
About PJ Peterson
PJ Peterson began writing mysteries once she retired from her career as a board-certified internist. It was a natural choice considering that she read all the Nancy Drew and Trixie Belden books when she was younger, later graduating to Agatha Christie and the other major mystery authors. Her first series, Julia Fairchild Mysteries, features Julia Fairchild, MD, a smart and curious young internist who is much braver than the author (who has yet to try sky-diving). Her novels include a touch of humor with her sidekick sister Carly providing most of that. And with her medical background, she sprinkles in something related to health or disease whenever it fits the story. After all, a doctor is just a detective wearing a white coat.
Wanting different characters to play with, she is writing the first book in a new series about a young woman named Christa, who has inherited her grandmother’s flower shop. Her writing has been described as “Jessica Fletcheresque,” à la Murder She Wrote.
