Hybrid Eugene: Blackout Poetry with Jennifer Rood

June 27, 2023 @ 6:15 pm - 8:00 pm

Eugene Chapter of Willamette Writers Presents

Blackout Poetry with Jennifer Rood

This meeting is online and in-person at the Eugene Public Library.

Come ready to have fun and learn about how to create blackout poetry in this hands-on workshop with poet Jennifer Rood online and at the Eugene Public Library, on June 27th at 6:15 (doors open at 6 PM). Not only will you come away with a finished piece of found poetry, but you will also add a valuable tool to your writing toolbox for getting past writer’s block and for reconnecting with your innate creativity. This workshop is for everyone!

About Jennifer Rood

Jennifer Rood has been writing poems and stories since she could hold a pencil, and got her first rejection letter in third grade. Eventually, though, she found publishing success in creative non-fiction and then poetry. She has dozens of published poems in various journals and anthologies, is a past Board Member (2018-2021) and President (2020-21) of the Oregon Poetry Association, and recently won first place for her prose poem “Breaking” in OPA’s Fall 2022 Contest. She just released What the Heart Says, a chapbook of found poetry/art (available through oregonbooks.com), and is looking forward to the release of a full-length book of her found poetry/art through Not a Pipe Publishing within the next year. After raising a family and working as a high school English, social studies, and art teacher for 30 years, she is happily anticipating her retirement this summer and the many new creative opportunities it will make room for, including serving as the artist-in-residence for the Oregon Caves National Monument this coming fall.
