Corvallis: Elevator Pitches
June 26 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Willamette Writers Corvallis Presents
The Thirty-Second Introduction for Writers, An Interactive Exercise
This meeting is In-Person Only.
An elevator pitch is a simple, concise introduction designed to present between stops on an elevator or any place else where you only have a minute. Writers often think of it in terms of a book, but it can also be used to introduce yourself, a project, a business, or an organization. It is not the kind of pitch you present to an agent to try to sell a book.
For this workshop, we will break up into small, facilitated groups, share our introductions, and help each other fine-tune them. Bring your rough draft. We will follow common critique guidelines. Address the writing, not the writer. Start with something good, address something that might be better, and close with encouragement. And go home with a useful introduction.
The meeting will be on June 26, 2023, in the Oak Room at the Corvallis Community Center, 2601 NW Tyler Ave. There will not be a virtual link. Doors open at 6:15 PM. The meeting begins at 6:30. Masks are encouraged.
