Corvallis Willamette Writers on the River

Willamette Writers Chapters are local writing communities where writers improve their craft and acquire the career skills required in today’s publishing world.

Originally the Willamette Writers on the River, the Corvallis Chapter (serving Linn/Benton Counties) offers nine monthly meetings/workshops throughout the year (no summer meetings). They are generally held on the 4th Monday of the month: in person (good weather) or via Zoom (winter). Our in-person meetings are held at the Corvallis Community Center (C3) 2601 NW Tyler Ave, Corvallis, OR 97330. Meeting times are 6:30-8:00 p.m.

You can join a monthly meeting even if you’re not a member. Read on to learn about us, and join our mailing list to keep in touch. Become a Willamette Writers Member today to support our community of writers.

Meetings Are Free and Open to the Public

Monthly meetings at all the chapters are free and open to the public. Please consider becoming a member or donating to support your chapter meetings. Your support makes our programming possible.

Jennifer D.Munro

Jennifer D. Munro is an avid but inept birdwatcher and knitter. She volunteers at a wildlife rescue center, where she wrangles ducklings and spreadsheets. She is a two-time Pushcart Prize nominee, a Top Ten Finalist in the Erma Bombeck Global Humor Competition, and winner of the National Society of Newspaper Columnists blog contest (in the “blogs nobody reads” category). Her prose has appeared in numerous publications, including Salon; Alaska Airlines Beyond; Literary Mama; Ninth Letter; North American Review; Gulf Coast; Boulevard; Best American Erotica; Full Grown People; Zyzzyva;  The Bigger the Better the Tighter the Sweater: 21 Funny Women on Beauty and Body Image. She once sold the world’s known supply of miso in one day to an end-of-the-world cult but is now much more content with her work as a freelance copyeditor (a cat-approved work-from-home career). www.JenniferDMunro.com.

Debbie Mourey

I am a reluctant poet and lover of all things words. Early on, I got a Library Science degree, so I could indulge my passion for hanging around books. Eventually, I went to work in different fields for different types of employers (corporate, non-profit, startups) and eventually had my first start-up, a management consulting practice. I have written, but not successfully published, a 3-act play (act 1 jotted down after it woke me from a sound sleep), poems (like Lemmings that are born only to fall off a cliff,) short stories (I always fall in love with my characters and have trouble letting them go.) In 2022, I published An Authentic Human’s Guide to Finding Meaningful Work. I even recorded the audiobook just for the chance to try to do it. I’m more of an explorer than a writer. I think life is taken too seriously by many people, including myself, so I try to take every opportunity to look at the lighter side. Deborahmourey.com
