About your Salem Chapter

The Salem Chapter of Willamette Writers is an open, caring, and supportive community of writers that meets monthly at the Salem Public Library. Our meetings are free and open to the public. We invite authors and industry professionals to speak on writing topics, and we share our work at open mics and critiques. Anyone is welcome to join our community to develop their craft and expand their writing careers.

The Salem Chapter is run by Bridget Good, Justin Walters, and Kathy Saviers.

Bridget Good

The Salem Chapter is run by Chapter Chairs Bridget Good, Justin Walters, and Kathy Saviers. Bridget Good lives in Salem with her husband, their three children, and two fur babies. When not working or spending time with her family, she is passionate about developing her craft in fiction and non-fiction writing. She is also an earthquake enthusiast, tenaciously encouraging her communities to prepare for the next “Big One.” Bridget is currently alternating between writing her third novel and adding new content to Surviving Cascadia — her non-fiction website dedicated to providing a comprehensive look at Cascadia megathrust earthquakes and tsunamis in the Pacific Northwest.

After working in law enforcement as a forensic examiner for more than 30 years, Kathy Saviers is turning her efforts towards writing fiction. While she has published three research papers in scholarly journals and written technical manuals on forensic practices, she finds the craft of writing novels is far different than writing a crime scene report. She has had one short story published in the Gold Man Review.
