The Willamette Writers Conference is one program of a much larger Willamette Writers organization.
Our 2017 conference marks the 48th consecutive year Willamette Writers has hosted one of the largest and most-beloved writing conferences in North America. We have worked tirelessly for nearly half a century to provide opportunities for writers to build their craft, meet with successful professionals, and become part of a vibrant community of writers from all walks of life.
But there’s much more to Willamette Writers than just the conference.
Willamette Writers is the largest writers organization in the Pacific Northwest. Writers of all genres and at all stages of their careers come to our meetings, annual conference, workshops, and other events to connect with their community, hone their craft, and advance their careers.
Willamette Writers was founded by Portland writer Kay Snow a half century ago with the goal of bringing published and unpublished writers together for mutual help and support. Our mission is to provide and encourage a creative environment and support system for professional and aspiring writers.
Willamette Writers is based in Portland, OR with an administrative office in West Linn. We have chapters in Southern Oregon, Mid-Valley, Salem, Corvallis, and the Oregon Coast. Willamette Writers has extensive programming, including our annual writers conference, and offers its members a number of benefits.
Whether you come for the conference, then join for the organization, or you join for the organization and visit the conference, membership and attendance are a one-two punch that can give your writing career knockout success.
