Leading a Literary Life
Come to be inspired!
Both Drake and Sampsell are heavily involved in the local and national writing and publishing industry, and we are excited to have them join Willamette Writers in Portland, Oregon. Their conversation promises to be enlightening, challenging, and inspiring.
Come to meet writers!
Monica Drake is the author of Clown Girl and The Stud Book. Her new collection, The Folly of Loving Life, was released in 2016 from Future Tense Books. Kevin Sampsell is the publisher of Future Tense Books. He is also an editor (Portland Noir and other books), author (the short story collection Creamy Bullets, the memoir, A Common Pornography, and the novel, This Is Between Us), and bookstore employee (Powell’s Books).
Come to learn!
Drake and Sampsell will explore their own experiences writing and living in Portland, and how they have built lives full of words and meaning. They’ll explore the frustrations, satisfaction, and challenges of a leading a literary life. They will also sign books and answer questions after their conversation.
The meeting is Tuesday, February 7th, 7:00-8:10 p.m.; doors open at 6:30 at the Historic Old Church in downtown Portland, 1422 SW 11th Ave.
