Southern Oregon Young Willamette Writers: Meeting with Author Jason Brick

March 3 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Southern Oregon Young Willamette Writers would like to welcome JASON BRICK, author of the YA fantasy novel, Wrestling Demons, on March 3rd to the Central Point Library for our next guest author workshop!

Jason started martial arts as a wrestler at the age of 12. Thirty-two years later, he has trained in five countries and teaches martial arts internationally.

Among his other accomplishments, Jason has coached a competition karate team — in Japan, moved his family to Malaysia because he wanted his kids to know what that’s like, wrote Amazon category best-sellers in two different genres, and has coached clients for twenty years and on three continents.

When not testing the theoretical limits of awesome, Jason can be found spoiling his family, playing tabletop games, feeding his martial arts habit or learning to cook. He lives in Oregon.

Jason’s YA novel, Wrestling Demons, is his traditionally published first installment in the Bushido Chronicles series, a tale about young martial artists and athletes who find themselves having to hunt demons while still getting a date for the prom. Lovers of Buffy, of Rick Riordan, of kung-fu movies, of anything by Rich Wallace, will enjoy this one. It’s written by a high school jock, for high school jocks, so if you have a youthful athlete on your gifting list he’d love it if you sent it their way.

Jason’s YWW workshop, “Show Me the Funny: Making Your Readers Laugh in Books and Book Reports,” is sure to be a hit with teens. Don’t miss out on the fun – you may walk out this workshop with your own copy of Wrestling Demons, and maybe even one for your school library!

Join us on March 3rd, 2018, from 10:00am until noon at the Central Point Library (116 South 3rd Street, Central Point). We’re open to all teens (age 13-18). Membership in Young Willamette Writers is $20 per year and includes not only the monthly workshops with published authors, but also:

  • raffle drawings at each workshop for free books from the visiting authors (winners will receive a copy of the author’s current book AND a copy for their SCHOOL LIBRARY, too!),
  • discussions and networking with writing industry professionals (like publishers and agents!),
  • and the opportunity to attend the WW conference in Portland in August!

Register at the workshop or online at http://willamettewriters.org/register/. We hope to see you there!
