“Deeper Characterization” with Zee Nickerson

On Saturday, November 5, 2016 at the Central Point City Hall Council Chambers, Southern Oregon Willamette Writers will host psychologist and substantive editor, Zee Nickerson, who will be presenting “Deeper Characterization,” A look at the unconscious psychology that makes a character act and perceive the world as they do.

Morning Session on “Deeper Characterization”
10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Free to members, $10.00 visitors

The morning session will look at such things as Birth order, Moral code, and personality matrix. Utilizing examples from fiction and the world Zee will give you a deeper understanding at how your character views the world even before the story begins.

Afternoon Workshop on “Deeper Characterization”
1:30 – 3:30 p.m. $25.00 for members, $30.00 for guests ($35 for whole day)

The afternoon session, will build off the morning and look at “Psychology of conflict.” How various psychologies and personalities go about creating and solving argument.Bring a paper and pen for this one as we will be working with various scenarios to see how they resolve and deal with conflict. We will also discuss the portrayal of inner conflict and believable resolution. Time permitting we will take a look at current characters we are working with and their own psychology and identity.
