Presentation: Psychology of Character

10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.   Free to members, $10.00 visitors

Covering a variety of topics such as subtleties of emotion, the five senses, abnormal behaviors, and self sabotage. The purpose of this workshop is to help authors gain: knowledge into how people function, to give writers ideas and techniques to craft fascinating stories, new insights into creating characters based on solid psychological research. In the end writers will have a better understanding of how a character, thinks, feels and processes the world, which in turn effects not only other characters but the reader as well.

Workshop: Psychology of a scene

1:30 – 3:30 p.m.   $20.00 for members, $25.00 for guests ($30 for whole day)

Did you know how a character is acting will affect how the reader responds? Taking information gleaned from the morning, the afternoon will be spent using worksheets and writing exercises to create scenes that contain nonverbal cues, internal stress, and dialogue with subtext. We will also take time to discuss the characters we are having probems with and gain a better understanding of the individual.
