Join veteran screenwriter Randall Jahnson and FiLMLaB Exec. Producer Ruth Witteried for this informative workshop on short script writing. Not only will you learn the fundamentals of short form and creating cinematic scenes, you’ll have an opportunity to put it to the test with in-class writing exercises. This is a great way to start your new creative year and embrace the 2016 FiLMLaB challenge.
Randall Jahnson has been a professional screenwriter for 30 years. He’s worked with such diverse filmmaking talent as Steven Spielberg, Penelope Spheeris, Alec Baldwin, Spike Lee, and Jonathan Demme. His credits include The Doors (as “J. Randal Johnson”), Dudes, The Mask of Zorro, Sunset Strip, and episodes of the HBO cable series Tales from the Crypt. He also wrote Gun, an epic Western video game, which was voted Best Story at the 2005 IGN Video Game Awards.

Dryads – Girls Don’t Cry, an indie feature he co-wrote with director Sten Hellevig, was released in Norway in August.

Drawing from his decades of experience, Jahnson teaches screenwriting and mentors filmmakers in the Portland, Oregon area and world-wide via Skype. Visit randalljahnson.com for more information.

Ruth Witteried is the Executive Director of the FiLMLaB competition and project, she produced the 2012 FiLMLaB short, Alis Volat Propriis, winner of the 2013 OIFF Best Comedic Short; 2013′s Coffee.Table.Book.; 2014’s Unwelcome Guests, and in 2015, The Return of Bug Eyed Bill. She acted as Film Coordinator for the Willamette Writers Conference from 2011-2013 and occasionally teaches screenwriting at Clark College.
