Salem: B.R. O’Hagan on Ghostwriting
March 4 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Writing in the Shadows: Ghostwriting for Top CEOs, the Ultra-Affluent, and National Political Figures.
On Wednesday March 4th, from 6:30 to 8:30PM, B.R. O'Hagan will present to the Salem chapter at the Scottish Rite Center.
Ghostwriting for top CEOs, the ultra-affluent, and national political figures is a highly specialized profession with its own unique set of rules and procedures. In his two-decade career, B.R. O’Hagan has written for clients as diverse as the CEO’s of several of the world’s largest corporations, a former US Secretary of State, two current US state governors, a former Director of the CIA, and the heads of 15 Fortune 500 companies. In this presentation, O’Hagan will discuss what it takes to be successful at this level, with a special focus on specific skills and attitudes the writer must master to produce work of lasting quality. Topics will include: how to find clients; what is it like to spend your writing career in the shadows; the rules that govern relationships with the ultra-affluent and political leaders; the one skill you must master above all others; why pre-conceived assumptions about your client can ruin the project; pay and perks, and much more. The presentation is audience interactive, with plenty of time for questions.
