Portland & Salem Online: Humor, Suspense and Tension with Tiffany Pitts

October 7, 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

So Funny It’s Frightening: Using Humor to Enhance Suspense and Create Tension

Since the ancient Greek philosophers, readers and writers alike have been taught to dismiss humor as unimportant to a story line. While it may be frustrating for some comedy writers, this stoic mindset turns humor into an efficient tool in the storytelling process. In this class, on October 7th from 7-8:30pm, we’ll look at ways humor can distract, confuse or invest the audience, allowing the writer to build tension and draw out suspense.
