Willamette Writers Salem – First Line Critique Group

On October 8, from 11-1, the Salem chapter will meet in the Plaza room of the Salem Public Library, 585 Liberty St SE, Salem, OR. This will be a ‘first lines’ critique group. Please bring the first few lines of a project you are working on to share with the group. Be prepared to receive helpful feedback from other authors and share your insights about their work. We look forward to strengthening the first impression of our work for our readers!

If enough people attend, we may break out into smaller groups, so it might be a good idea to bring several copies of your first lines to pass around.

If you know of a published work that has especially effective first lines, please bring it to the meeting, or type up and email us the lines along with the title of the work and author. We will use these as good examples at the beginning of the meeting.

About your chapter meetings

Willamette Writers meetings are open to all writers, 18 and up. Young writers are encouraged to join our Young Willamette Writers meetings.
