“And the curtain rose…” Presented by Susan Kelly, Salem
September 9, 2015 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
“And the curtain rose…”
Presented by Susan Kelly
Please note that this is a 2-hour workshop. We will start with a couple of announcements and follow immediately with the program, so come a little early if you want some time to chitchat. Also, if you can, bring a printed, double-spaced copy of the opening scene of your novel with you to work on.
You’ve been told repeatedly how important the opening of your novel is. You’re supposed to dazzle, fascinate, intrigue, compel and do it all within the first few pages. You’re given a laundry list of things to remember: story question, arc, inciting incident, reader contract, genre expectations, the world of the everyday. In reality, this is about as easy as riding a unicycle while juggling flaming torches.
Attend a two-hour, fun, interactive workshop led by Susan Kelly and learn practical ways to master that unicycle. Bring a printed, double-spaced copy of the opening scene of your novel with you to work on.
