Member Announcements Shared at the November Meeting

Here are a couple of member announcements:

  • Rachel Barton (who was also our July speaker) is offering the Poetry Workshop as a non-credit class at the Benton Center. The class will run from 1:-2:50, (BC-121), Thursdays, for ten weeks, beginning on January 9th. Class size limited. Check your Linn-Benton Community College catalog or email: bcinfo@linnbenton.edu for more information. Register at the Benton Center, 757 NW Polk Ave., Corvallis.
Barton is an award-winning poet who re-entered the writing life through the Oregon Writing Project. She offers the same framework of writing in a community of writers in her classes. Come expand your poetry community. Generate new poems using a variety of strategies as prompts, and practice critique and revision within a community of peers. Final project includes a chapbook exchange.
  • HERO by Cristina White is in the recently released 2014 Gold Man Review, available on Amazon.com and BN.com (search Gold Man Review Issue 3). A Kindle version is also available. HERO is creative nonfiction, a coming of age story about an idealized romance that takes an unexpected turn and becomes a never-to-be-forgotten relationship.

At least a couple more announcements were shared at the November meeting. If and when we get the details we’ll share them here. In the meantime enjoy the white weather and put our Winter Reading on your calendar: December 16 at 6:30 p.m.
