Laura Mazer is the executive editor of Seal Press, an imprint of Hachette Book Group. Before joining Seal, she was the managing editor of literary publisher Counterpoint and executive editor of the imprint Soft Skull Press. In the 1990s, she was the managing editor of Creators Syndicate, the international agency that represents some of the most widely published opinion writers around the globe, including Arianna Huffington, Hillary Clinton, Susan Estrich, and Benazir Bhutto. Laura was also a senior editor at Brill’s Content magazine, and served as the special sections editor at the Los Angeles Times.
Looking for: Nonfiction by women authors, especially: Engaging narrative journalism, popular culture, keep-it-real prescriptive wisdom, packaged “concept” books, parenting, progressive thought leadership. An established national platform is essential.
Not looking for: Cookbooks, diet books, niche memoir, academic books.
