Swimming with Sharks: Navigating a Movie-Writing Career

Sunday, August 6, 2017
10:00 am - 11:30 am
St. Helen’s D

Why do the talented and skilled fail in Hollywood? Because there’s way more a writer needs to know than how to pen a hot screenplay. From getting your foot in the door, handling your reps, networking in a town where everyone knows everyone, and the deal with general meetings, Robyn will talk about how to swim and succeed in the big pond.

Robyn Schneider

Robyn Schneider is the author of the critically-acclaimed and bestselling young adult novels The Beginning of Everything and Extraordinary Means, which have earned numerous starred reviews, appear on many state reading lists, and are published in over a dozen countries. Both books are in development as feature films, with Robyn attached to write the screenplays. She is one of very few writers who works across film, television, and books. Her digital series Watson sold to Big Frame in 2012, and her television pilot Glamoured was set up with Sam Raimi’s Ghost House Pictures and with Good Universe in 2013. Robyn is a graduate of Columbia University, where she studied creative writing, and the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine, where she earned a Masters of Bioethics. She lives in Los Angeles, California.
