Panel: How To Break Into (And Survive!) the World of Young Adult Fiction

Saturday, August 13, 2016
3:30 pm - 5:00 pm
St. Helen’s C

Join Cat Winters, Jennifer Bosworth, Fonda Lee, Teri Brown, and moderator Miriam Forster to find out what it takes to make it in today’s competitive world of teen fiction. This panel of actively working, traditionally published YA novelists, who represent a wide variety of genres, will share their publishing journeys and offer advice on how to get one’s foot in the door, how to continue selling YA fiction, and how to survive the challenges of the industry.

Miriam Forster

Miriam Forster is a part-time writer, full-time cat lackey, and professional dinosaur handler. She’s the author of the South Asian-based YA fantasies City of a Thousand Dolls and Empire of Shadows. In real life Miriam is a recovering barista, a terrible housekeeper and a bit of a hermit, but in her mind she’s a deadly international assassin-ninja and a fantastic dancer. She lives in Portland with her husband and an adorably evil cat. Visit her online at msforster.blogspot.com.
