Legal Issues: How to Wear a Helmet
Anticipating potential legal issues is a crucial step before devoting time, money, and effort to a new project. How do you avoid (or at least reduce) rights clearance issues? What are the boundaries of “fair use,” and what about possible invasion of privacy and defamation claims against you? And what are the best strategies for obtaining the rights to use third-party content, such as adapting a book for a film project? These, plus a grab bag of related topics, will be discussed. Q&A to follow.
