Master Class: Scott Myers — “Narrative Imperative: The Protagonist’s Psychological Journey”

An in-depth exploration of the behind-the-words journey every protagonist takes from the first scene, through the climax, and into the denouement. Students will spend the morning learning and asking questions about this misunderstood and essential part of creating character and narrative. In the afternoon, Scott will workshop the journey with the protagonists of all attendee’s WIP.


Scott Myers

Scott has written over thirty movie and TV projects at every major Hollywood studio and broadcast network. His screenwriting credits include K-9, Alaska, and Trojan War. From 2002-2010, Scott was an executive producer at Trailblazer Studios, overseeing the company’s original content development for TV. Scott has taught in the UCLA Extension Writers’ Program, receiving its Outstanding Instructor Award in 2005, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and in 2016 joined the faculty at the DePaul University School of Cinematic Arts as an assistant professor. Since 2008, Scott has hosted GoIntoTheStory.com, the official screenwriting blog of the Black List.
