From Oh F#@K to Funny in approximately 132 Easy Steps
For 10 years, Courtenay was the Host and Head Writer of Live Wire, a radio variety show now syndicated on over 110 public radio stations nationally. She wrote and performed over 200 humorous personal essays and lead a team of up to six comedy writers. She’s also a playwright, columnist and screenwriter whose work includes the web series “”The Benefits of Gusbandry,”” which The New York Times called “”A masterpiece of pretension-puncturing.”” Her work has appeared in McSweeney’s, Portland Monthly, More Magazine and some scathing emails to the customer service department at Macy’s. Her first book, Okay Fine Whatever: The Year I Went From Being Afraid of Everything to Only Being Afraid of Most Things was released last month.
She’s taught writers at all levels, from high school students to published authors through organizations like Wordstock/Literary Arts, Portland Center Stage, Oregon Humanities, Pacific University, PHAME Academy, Caldera, PNCA and the Portland Creative Conference.
