What is a “Reader?” What exactly do they do? Can they help me? Andrew Hilton, aka The Screenplay Mechanic, has read more than 10,000 feature and TV screenplays for producers, writers, and studios all over the world. By sharing the insight and advice he’s gained from 25 years in the industry, he aims to demystify the strange creature known as the Hollywood Reader.

After working on Steven Spielberg’s Shoah Foundation project, Andrew Hilton entered the world of feature development at Universal Pictures. He soon segued to a position with Silver Pictures (DIE HARD, LETHAL WEAPON), based at Warner Bros. From there, he worked as a Story Editor for producer Mario Kassar (FIRST BLOOD, BASIC INSTINCT) at Paramount, then spent the next decade as the Senior Story Analyst for New Regency Productions at 20th Century Fox. A credited screenwriter and producer himself, Andrew is also a independent consultant and screenplay analyst for producers, writers, directors and film financiers based all over the world.
