Master Class: Criteria-Driven Storytelling: Using Best-in-Industry Standards to Strengthen Your Narrative

Thursday, August 1, 2019 @ 9:30 am - 3:30 pm

Please join us for this Master Class with Larry Brooks.

Writing (like most complex tasks) comes with criteria that measure its efficacy and excellence—criteria like standards and best practices. And while these standards don’t always drive your process, they absolutely drive the form and function of your work. The criteria that apply to mainstream novels and screenplays have been around for decades, but we rarely approach it as tool chest to apply to your work. In this workshop, Larry Brooks will examine element-specific criteria across the entire arc of a story, including the rarely plumbed depths of the conception stage. This information empowers story planners and organic story “pantsers” alike toward a higher level of narrative power and an earlier arrival at a “final” draft that leaves nothing untended on the table.

Master classes are small, focused workshops, limited to 15 writers and presented by industry professionals. This Master Class is five hours long and includes lunch. You must register to attend Master Classes at an additional cost. Please register here.
